6-Year Language & Culture Program for Late Beginners

6-Year German Language & Culture Program for Beginners at the Junior High School Level

In addition to our Preschool to Grade 12 classes, we offer the Alberta Education 6-year German Language and Culture program (Grade 6-12) that allows late entry to students who are close to the Junior High School level and have little or no prior German language knowledge.

To meet the focused language expectations and achieve the two diplomas at the end of this 6-year program, a high level of learning commitment to studying and regular attendance to help develop strong language skills is required of participating students.

Our 6-year program provides the opportunity to not only earn High School credits in Grade 10-12 but also to help achieve the official and internationally recognized German Language Diplomas Level 1 & 2 (Deutsches Sprachdiplom) by the end of Grade 11 or Grade 12!

Being awarded your Sprachdiplom certificate demonstrates an advanced knowledge of German and will help you qualify for admission to university or other post-secondary education in Germany. It will also be evidence of your language skills when entering various career sectors to work in Germany or abroad.

Please note:

  • Students of the 6-year program receive their high school credits in Grades 10-12.
  • Attendance in Grades 10, 11 and 12 allows for only three missed classes per term to meet all course requirements.
  • Beginner students who are not necessarily interested in achieving the Sprachdiplomas or earning High School credits, but still would like to start learning German, please contact us to discuss your goals and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • If you are not yet in Junior High School but are interested in entering our 6-year program early, please contact us.
